Naval Jargon and History Quiz

The Britannia History Challenge

If you have read Alice in Wonderland, you will know what a Jabberwocky is but what is a Molgogger?

Did you know that some still drink 'Nelson's Blood' to this day?

What is it called when you coil a rope anti-clockwise? A Dutchman, Frenchman or German?

What does the 'D' in DDAY stand for? - How far way are the Falkland Islands?

Our naval heritage spans hundreds of years of adventure, tradition and victories and with that come a history rich in language, customs and often confusing jargon.

The Britannia Association along with Britannia Royal Naval College invite you to enjoy a little light educational relief and to test your naval knowledge - you need not have served in the navy to participate.

We hope to add new quizzes as time goes on -click here  to request to be informed when they are online.

Our thanks to the Nelson Society, DDAY & Normandy Fellowship, Greenwich Maritime Museum, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and War Times Journal for providing the questions or clues to the answers.
